Green Party in England & Wales

In advance of the 5th anniversary of September 11th 2001, the Green
Party have issued the following statement

Green Party Principal Speaker Keith Taylor said:

"The events of September 11th 2001 proved a pivotal point in
international relations, and have had an enormous impact on world
affairs.

"Tens, possibly hundreds, of thousands of people have died as a
result of the War on Terror, most of them civilians. Crimes against
humanity have been committed, and the situation in the Middle East is
bloodier than ever.

"In Afghanistan, NATO forces are still fighting, 4 years after the
first foreign peacekeepers were sent in, with more UK soldiers set to
join the 5500 already there.  In Iraq, some estimates for civilian
deaths are as high as 46 000.  (1)

"The UK's foreign policy, beefed up with dodgy dossiers, has become a
series of fatal blunders. The government , and their rationale, must
be called to account.

“When Britain joined in Bush’s war on terror, the twin tower attacks
were used as a justification. Tony Blair took us into an illegal and
immoral war on a lie, and should now face war crime charges.
