GREEN MEP BRANDS THAMES WATER LEAKAGE FAILURE AS ‘SHAMEFUL’
As Thames Water announces today that it has missed its leakage reduction target for the third year running London’s Green MEP, Jean Lambert, has branded the failure as ‘shameful’.
Today Jean, who has encouraged everyone to save water wherever possible, commented; “People across London have really been doing their best to save water by adhering to hose pipe bans and making changes to their life style that have made a big difference. Thames Water’s failure to meet leakage targets simply undermines this and is completely disheartening for those that are trying.
“We can see activity across the Capital where Thames Water are updating the Victorian water system but with the threat of a drought order hanging over London it all seems to have come a little too late. With a 31% rise in their pre tax profits to £346.5m I hope we will see more investment in our water system and not the pockets of Thames Water Directors.”
